Our History

Imagine a young church, sprouting in the heart of Victoria Island, Lagos, facing not just opposition but its own growing pains. This is the story of Redemption Pavilion Parish, affectionately known as “The Miracle Centre.”

Born in 1995 as an offshoot of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Living Spring Parish, it started humbly in the residence of Pastor Akin Denton. Among the first members, names like Mr. Femi Cole and Mrs. Mina Cole of blessed memory, Mrs Hamaan, Mr Gboyega Ademola, Mrs Funmi Ladipo, Mrs Olawunmi Olanrewaju and Mrs Cynthia Olounjuwon.  These have etched themselves onto the early history of the church.

But growth demanded space. So, in 1996, they moved to Engineering Close, Pastor Vincent Sagua leading the way with the late Pastor Prof Fola Aboaba taking over later that year. However, challenges arose, making their stay short-lived. we were cast down but not destroyed. It was, as they say, a “good problem,” for it pushed them towards their destined address: Plot 295, Jide Oki Street, Victoria Island, where church is today.

Constructing a church building is no easy feat, and ours faced strong opposition, especially from the neighboring Islamic community. Yet, fueled by faith and resilience, the church building rose miraculously in less than six months. This tenacity earned them the nickname “The Miracle Centre” as coined by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E A Adeboye (Daddy GO).

The land itself was a gift, graciously donated by the late Pastor Akin Denton. With each shepherd – Pastor Fola Aboaba for 14 years, followed by Pastor Rufus Eyitayo (5 years) – the church flourished, building upon the foundation laid by its predecessors.  A significant leap came in 2015. Redemption Pavilion became the Head-Quarters Parish of Lagos Province 6, with Pastor Biyi Famoyegun at the helm. Seven years later, in 2022, Pastor Bisi Olowoyo took over the reins of the province.

Redemption Pavilion holds pioneering significance, being the first purpose-built Pentecostal church in VI/Ikoyi. In the early days, it belonged to the larger VI/Ikoyi/Lekki family. However, 2015 brought another shift. With the formation of Region 11 at the Resurrection Ground on Lekki, the province moved to Redemption Pavilion, becoming the headquarters. The General Overseer himself bestowed the name “Blessed Family” upon the Region.

Throughout its journey, Redemption Pavilion has stood as a beacon of faith, overcoming obstacles and witnessing miracles. It’s a story of resilience, growth, and a community bound by shared beliefs and a common purpose. The journey continues, with each chapter adding to the rich tapestry of this remarkable church.

Come with expectation, your miracle awaits!!!

Getting Married

Getting Married

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) encourages Christian marriage counseling and views it as a positive resource for strengthening marriages. Here’s a summary of the perspective:

  • Marriage is a divine institution: They believe marriage is ordained by God and reflects his image best when a man and woman come together (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:18-25).
  • Importance of companionship: Marriage is meant to be a lifelong partnership built on companionship, completion, and spiritual connection (Genesis 2:25, Matthew 19:5).
  • Challenges are expected: RCCG acknowledges that even in Christian marriages, difficulties can arise.
  • Counselling as a tool: They see marriage counseling as a valuable tool for couples to navigate challenges, improve communication, and strengthen their bond. Counselling takes place before emarriage.  It is also an exciting discovery journey of your spouse to be.

Water Baptism

water baptism

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) considers water baptism an important step for believers. Here’s a breakdown of the perspective on water baptism:

  • Sign of Salvation: RCCG believes water baptism is a public outward symbol of an inward spiritual reality – having accepted Jesus Christ as your savior and being born again (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:6).
  • Following Jesus’ Example: Jesus himself was baptized by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:13-17), and RCCG views this as an important precedent for believers to follow (Matthew 28:19).
  • Importance of Obedience: The act of baptism signifies obedience to God’s command (Matthew 28:19).
  • Benefits of Baptism: Baptism is seen as a way to:
    • Identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Romans 6:1-4).
    • Publicly declare your faith (Acts 8:36-39).
    • Receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).

Child Dedication

child dedication

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) views child dedication as a significant ceremony to acknowledge God’s role in parenthood and a child’s life. Here’s a breakdown of the perspective:

  • Gratitude for Children: RCCG emphasizes that children are a gift from God (Psalm 127:3). Dedication allows parents to express their thankfulness for this blessing.
  • Spiritual Growth: The ceremony signifies the parents’ commitment to raise their child in a Christian environment and nurture their spiritual growth.
  • Parental Commitment: Dedication serves as a public declaration by parents to take responsibility for their child’s spiritual upbringing.
  • Not a Substitute for Baptism: While important, child dedication is not considered a sacrament like baptism. Baptism typically occurs later in a child’s life when they can make their own faith commitment.
